Day 47-
This
marks the 47th day of life, death, whatever. Perhaps death would be
better at this point. Would I rather see lifeless bodies begging to
gouge my guts out roaming around all day? Low food, like always. No life
found- again. Morale’s low (my own, that is), engine’s loud- keeping me
from sleep. In case you find this, then there is hope for the world-
stay alive if you want, I don’t really care- I hate this world, I hate
this ‘life’…
The
government shutdown 47 days ago. The first two or so weeks weren’t so
bad, in fact, things resumed as normal- as if things would ever be
normal after that- what a joke! But spending was too high, we were
falling deeper and deeper into debt as a country and something had to be
done! I didn’t like it, my team didn’t like it, no one did! Government
spending was terminated- all of it! No money went anywhere! Nobody got
paid, no mail, no schooling, no military- nothing! I wasn’t getting any
money, my wife was devastated! Life was horrible, but then it got worse…
You
see, the CDC was no longer funded. Their building was abandoned and
people wrecked it from floor to ceiling, stealing everything they could
find! Nobody stood in their way- nobody protected it. The most dangerous
diseases of history were thrown around, vials of toxins and
experimental potions, or whatever you want to call them, were shattered!
Different gasses and poisons- and who knows what else were spreading
all over the place! This was no way to live! I guess God or whatever
force you believe in has a funny sense of humor. This was no way to
live- so they didn’t…
These
people , all of them from that building, turned grey within a few
hours, but I don’t mean dead... They sprinted through the streets and up
walls faster than any athlete I’ve ever seen run! They leaped 15 feet
into the air, with no effort! People locked themselves in their homes as
a last remaining defense, but once three or four of these… these things
got together, they’d tear down walls, they’d do anything for a live
meal. They ate people, yes people- alive ones! These were the most
gruesome creatures I’d ever seen- they were human corpses…. ALIVE! I
watched my wife and daughter get torn apart by these beings! I had
nothing else to live for. I wasn’t about to go out that way- not like
that! Luckily, I was in the military, before they ended my pay. I
grabbed the nearest assault rifle and held down the trigger. I can still
remember the loud bangs, the bright flashes, the smell of gunpowder. I
used up all 437 of my bullets to kill three of these things- not one
bullet was left for myself. I took it upon myself to believe that that
was fate- that I was meant to live! ...so foolish of me.
Survivors
were (and still are) hard to find, everywhere I went, more and more of
these beings- creatures- whatever! I had no food, no water, no shelter.
The infection spread faster than anything I’d ever seen. Within three
hours, the entire country were transformed into these walking monsters!
In an instant, the ground vibrated and my ears shattered. I couldn’t
see, everything was so bright. I remember tripping and hitting my head.
Then nothingness- everywhere.
I
woke up in a helicopter, I was still very weak, but I could lift my
head- barely. Vision was bright and blurry, everything seemed to run
together and sounds were hard to distinguish. I remember tilting my head
back- then nothingness. This happened five or six times, but the
seventh was different. I could see clearly now. No way! Joel, Dusty, and
Popeye! These were my closest friends back in the army. I asked them
what happened.
Turns
out, without any funding, the CDC was overrun and the breaking of
countless vials resulted in the breaking of one in particular- a zombie
virus. It sounds crazy, but it was obviously true. The country was
overrun by zombies within hours. The last remaining military forces
bombed the entire country, it took 193 bombs in total, one of which, I
witnessed. My buddies knew of a military base not too far- as they
should, and broke in. They geared up, and fired up some helis. A group
of a few more soldiers, in hiding, ran out and joined them. Shortly
after taking off, they found me- lucky to even be alive.
Now
me and my boys fly around, low to the ground, in search of any other
survivors- boy, would that be great! Maybe then, I’ll have something to
live for. We all wonder two things. One: is there anyone else out there?
Two: are the other countries infected? We all dream of flying away, but
there’s no chance of this copter making it. For now, they’ll be content
with searching for survivors. If you find this, I’m most likely dead.
I’ve made it 47 days, I’ll make it another! …for what, I’m still not
sure.

Honestly, Matt, I did not expect that! Great story! :) If you wanted to, I bet you could turn this into a novel:)
