I once belonged to an old man who received me as a birthday gift. He never took me out more than once before he stopped working. Then I belonged to his counterpart wife, who did not enjoy my beauty nor my performance. She said I was too expensive and she didn't want to crash me. I respected that she didn't want to hurt me, but I get cramped and sticky if I sit around for a long time.
...I longed to be driven. After all, "Mustang" means "untamable."

She did end up selling me to a man with a strange hat; why anyone would enjoy such a roof scoop is beyond me. His hood stood out a little too, I was scared his engine would fall out his belly!
I sat in a lot inbetween Red and Blue. They were both sports cars like me, but Red was a Corvette and was a much newer model than me. Blue was older but refurbished and beautiful. I was plain and simple me.
Red and Blue sold within the first month of my captivity to the front lot. I would watch the free cars go down the road and wink at me with their proud owners on their backs. I hated myself, wishing I could be red and stylish, or blue and beautiful, or simply a normal car and practical. But I was never any of those.
But something happened I did not expect. A middle-aged man came with his younger offspring and asked the man in the strange hat about me. I was quickly excited when they started to walk over to me, but I told myself not to mind them, they'd take a closer look at me and be gone in an instant. They talked about my parts and whether they were still clean. I quietly scoffed at them, of course I was in pristine condition, I've never been really driven.

Suddenly, the young lad tugged at his father's fabric hood and asked to sit in my driver seat. The father agreed and lifted him into my drivers seat. I had never been so happy since the old man used me! The young one started imitating my voice and trying to steer the wheel. He was a wild little thing, he began to tell me what to do.
So I let him.
The dragon had awakened and was chasing us down the abandoned highway. I sped as fast as I could go, dodging left and right of the dragon's ballistic fireballs. He told me to take the scary looking road into the forest to lose the mighty beast. He sounded a bit scared, but I would protect the boy. I told him to hang on as I made a sharp turn, barely missing one of the magical trees with my bumper. It was harder to drive in between the trees, but we lost the dragon.
We stopped to check for danger, but trolls grabbed the boy and locked him inside me. They wrapped me in chains and led me to the mysterious castle. They tied me down and waited until the dawn to start ripping my parts off, then burn me with the boy inside me.
Waiting until the cover of darkness, he shifted me into my powerful gear, then slammed on the gas. Having that much gas put into my engine caused me to burst with adrenaline! I put my tires down then pulled as hard as I could. The boy told me to hurry, we were waking all the trolls up and they'd come and get us soon.
I pulled harder until one chain snapped, then two, then three... until we were finally free. The trolls closed the gate to the courtyard, locking us within it's walls. I still had some chains attached to me, so I wrapped them around their sacred tree that they worshiped, then pulled it over the wall. The young lad buckled in, he knew what was about to happen. We drove up the trunk of the tree and flew over the wall, crashing onto the road before with a thud, but not enough to stop me.
We started to speed away when I heard the young boy's father say "deal."
Oh! I know that word. I've only heard that name once when the old man's son bought me from my makers. Does this mean I'll be driven again? Does this mean I'll be loved again? Does this mean that this young boy and I will have more adventures to come?
My questions were answered when the man in the funny hat tossed the father my keys.

I really loved how, this came from the car's point of view. You got me to sympathize with the car. Nobody likes to feel neglected, and everybody wants to be of some use. I loved it, how you brought the picture through with the boy's imagination. excellent job. i tried to find something to criticize about this, but had difficulty, so great job!
ReplyDeleteDancingchristian, is this Stormy?
ReplyDeletePardon, Beka?
DeleteI have a friend from work named Stormy. I've been waiting for her to jump in and read stories for several months now. I was wondering if you were her. Funny, I finally saw her last night and asked her if she was you and obviously she said no. Then when I got home I saw your response. Funny :)
