Weekly Expressions Week #12 Joe

She's got a way about her.
I don't what it is, but I know that I can't live without her.

Those were the first two sentences in the Billy Joel song,"She's Got A Way". I don't what it is about that song, but it touches my heartstrings when I think about those times when she was with me. As I sit here, I glance at a photo of us taken in 1983. Good days. She was at the time my life, my all. Everything in me that was wonderful. I get turned around when I remember her healing smile, just how much she was a help. I know couldn't have lived without her. I don't why it is, but it lifted me up when we would walk together. Everywhere she went, a million dreams of love instantly surrounded her footsteps. There doesn't have to be a reason, she was. Ahhh.

At that moment in time, I was going to spring an engagement ring. Aka. I prepared myself to "pop the question" to her. We had been together for a long time, it felt we had become quite close. I was an adventurous soul, so was she. Though sometimes I was a bit shy, but then again so was she. Although you'd never see it in usual conversation or at first look, but if you knew her like I did, you would love her too. When we were around each other, she talked of the following: her life, people who inspired her, and our relationship. She acknowledged I'd do anything and everything for her, so would she with I. We came to stream, I would make low bow, putting my jacket on the riverbed so she could cross safely. She'd then curtsy to me saying,"Why thank you kind sir. Your talents haven't gone unnoticed." To which I'd say,"Merely a trifle of a gesture on my part, fair lady." She would then laugh while lightly swatting me in the arm, then would turn on her heel in a regal pose, walking forward gracefully as if she were the royal queen of England. I never minded, she was quite the queen, or at least that was my sentiments. I removed my jacket from the ground, a suit jacket nonetheless, but I didn't mind. She was wearing a business jacket and dress, certainly she didn't mind what she was wearing. She liked looking nice, I couldn't blame her, I can never tell such a beautiful person they shouldn't look so nice. That'd be a stupid thing to say. She was mysterious, allusive, and I never knew what would happen next between us.

"Hey! Look over there!", she exclaimed as she walked forward a bit of a quicker pace now, but then stopping abruptly. A smile crossed her lips, and she turned to me."Isn't that the most amazing tree you've seen?"

Me being the foolish idiot at times said,"What's so special about it?" Looking as if the tree didn't really hold anything of permanent worth for my life.

"Well, silly", she said with a smirk, yet dignified."If you looked further into it, you would have noticed the moss on that 'special tree', it's in the shape of a smiley face!" Her face instantly changed from a look of seriousness, to one of proud admiration of making a hilarious remark. Then proceeding that, she doubled over with a laugh that was so infectiously happy, I couldn't help but grinning. When she laughs, you can't ever keep a sour expression on your face, no sir! She was still laughing when I got closer to where she was standing, she had her hands on her hips, gazing yonder into the horizon. I liked that. It felt as if the way she stood there, she could make everything about her, come alive with joy. Her hair, even though it was in a bun, strands seemed to ever so slightly catch the wind. Making parts of her hair rest on either side of her head, showing an almost shimmering glow coming to her face, truly remarkable.

We continued on walking, when we came to a bridge. The bridge had a view of a factory on the other side of our town, and a view of a waterfall below. I reached for her hand, turning her around to face me.

"Hhey, we've known each other for a long time, rright?", I stuttered out. Oh man, I'm stuttering, this is terrible! What am I gonna do now.

"Yes, I do believe we have.", she said with a grin."I've actually approximated we've been in a relationship of this sort for about, ooooooh five-hundred twelve days, that's my rough estimate.", she said with a wink.

Good gracious, she's amazing! "Well, I was. At least what I meant to say. Really though.", as I tried to think of what to say, I got down on one knee. Her face suddenly grew different. I couldn't even read the expression she wore."For years", I said,"of knowing you. I can't find anyone else who is as awe-inspiring or kind as you. You're the only one I love. I've wanted to tell you this for so long, but I never knew how to. Now that I know, would you spend the rest of your marvelous days with me?" I took out a small box from my pocket revealing a ring.

She smiled then, as a tear slowly left her eye."Yes."

"Yes?"

"Yes! Yes! Yes!"

"You mean, you'll marry me?"

"Of course I have. I've been praying that this day would come for a while. Just waited for you." Another tear came down her cheek. A few came down my face too. We then got up, embraced each other, then kissed.
